"Weapon of the Soul"
Three men in wetsuits attack Shang-Chi on a Florida beach. After he defeats them, he learns that Demmy Marston of Miami sent them. When Marston gets the news that his assassins have failed, he tells his assistant Bufford Jones to call Korain. Marston's girlfriend, Diana, asks one question too many, so he slaps her. Jones goes to visit Korain at his villa and finds that he is a samurai.
"Poison of the Soul"
Shang-Chi sneaks aboard Marston's yacht, "The Sweet Home," via the anchor chain. He brazenly walks past three guards who didn't hear him approach, then knocks them out. In the onboard casino, Marston tries to reconcile with Diana and hints at bigger things to come. Shang-Chi appears and asks why Marston wants to kill him. Marston yells for the guards and draws a gun, which Shang-Chi kicks out of his hand. Korain enters through a door that he splits with his sword. Shang-Chi recognizes him as someone who had "a position of high respect in my father's court," but he was old even then. Now he seems young and vigorous, an even match for Shang-Chi. They battle through the casino. Without warning, Korain has a convulsion and visibly ages. He takes out a vial (Fu Manchu's elixir vitae) and drinks it, but he has used it for too long. His heart fails. With a dying lunge, he falls across a table. One of his swords pierces Diana's abdomen. "Nature has achieved a cruel balance. Death has arrived late for one and prematurely for another."
